Silverstein Properties Improves Midtown East Office Tower With 'Bespoke Wellness'

The convenient location of the office tower at 529 Fifth Avenue in Midtown East will be particularly advantageous as workers return to the office amid the pandemic, said Alexander Chudnoff, a vice chairman at exclusive leasing agent JLL.

The development and management firm Silverstein Properties plans to add elaborate new amenities to the office tower at 529 Fifth Avenue in Midtown East, including a hospitality ambassador and yoga classes and happy hours for employees.

The capital improvements plan at 529 Fifth Avenue will also include changes to ground floor retail, creating “a venue that can accommodate a variety of tenants and will eventually serve as an amenity for the building and greater neighborhood,” said Silverstein Properties Executive Vice President Jeremy Moss.

JLL will be the exclusive leasing agent for the 20-story tower, which is on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 44th Street. The convenient location will be particularly advantageous as workers return to the office amid the pandemic, JLL Vice Chairman Alexander Chudnoff said.

“When the nation’s workforce is prepared to return to the workplace, convenient travel and access is going to be a major benefit,” Chudnoff said. “529 Fifth Avenue is centrally located near three major transit hubs and all forms of transportation, making it an attractive office destination that can accommodate tenants traveling to work from several New York City neighborhoods, including by bike.”

529 Fifth Avenue’s new amenity space, which will be designed by integrated design firm Architecture + Information, will include space for employees to relax on the building’s terrace. They will also have access to a hotel-quality, on-site hospitality ambassador and Silverstein’s INSPIRE Your Day amenity app to coordinate activities including lectures, massage sessions, yoga classes, happy hours, and neighborhood discounts and perks.

The amenity space is branded The Willow, a reference to the site’s history as home of the 19th century tavern Ye Olde Willow Cottage. The tavern’s namesake tree was reportedly the last remaining willow on Fifth Avenue as development spread uptown.

“Silverstein Properties recognizes the importance of best-in-class amenity spaces for their tenants to come together and collaborate, and take a break from their hectic schedules,” said Silverstein Properties Executive Vice President Lisa Bevacqua. “The Willow at 529 Fifth Avenue will be a bespoke wellness experience that will continue to attract top talent.”
