The construction industry will "radically change" as itundergoes nine specific shifts, and the COVID-19 pandemic couldcatalyze the makeover, according to a new report from McKinsey& Co.

Titled "The next normal in construction" and written by MariaJoão Ribeirinho, Jan Mischke, Gernot Strube, Erik Sjödin, Jose LuisBlanco, Rob Palter, Jonas Biörck, David Rockhill and TimmyAndersson, the report details how "disruption is reshaping theworld's largest ecosystem."

"Construction is responsible for a wide range of impressiveaccomplishments, from stunning cityscapes and foundationalinfrastructure on a massive scale to sustained innovation," theauthors wrote. "However, in the past couple of decades, it also hasbeen plagued by dismal performance."
