The way we live our lives and conduct business hasdrastically changed in 2020—a trend that also includes the seniorhousing industry. Namely, according to a recent post fromJLL, Covid-19 has prompted seniorhousing communities to quickly to adopt newtechnologies, faster than they might otherwise have.

Currently, technology is used in thesecommunities as a way to keep both residents and workerssafe from coronavirus. As one example,communities across the country are using robots to performvarious tasks such as room cleaning and temperaturechecks.

The technology is also used to help these communities functionmore efficiently. According to JLL, some of the uses for theserobots include telehealth and other service-oriented functionality.These communities need to be as efficient as possible becauseaccording to the US Census Bureau, all baby boomers will be overthe age of 65 by 2030, which is estimated to be about 73 millionpeople. Zach Bowyer, managing director at JLL calls this the"silver tsunami."
