Signage Takes Center Stage For Safe Reopening

With a heavy focus on safety, hygiene and distancing protocols, commercial environments need COVID signage to best instruct safety practices such as that offered by Indiesigns.

SAN FRANCISCO—A recent survey by Lending Tree showed that of the small businesses owners located in Silicon Valley, 14.8% won’t return to levels of last year with 68% reporting that business would not return to normal before the end of the year. But for those businesses that are managing to reopen, etiquette for physical space continues to evolve.

With this heavy focus on safety, hygiene and distancing protocols, commercial environments need signage to best instruct safety practices. Indiesigns, an e-commerce shop that offers colorful COVID-19 safety signage, was founded by Indiewalls (a corporate art consultancy that works with the likes of Google, LinkedIn, Marriott and Royal Caribbean). The signage adheres to the latest safety regulations presented by the CDC and can be customized to include logos, company language and titles.

“Right now, there’s a lot of negativity and feelings of hopelessness surrounding the reopening of businesses and the health of the economy,” Ari Grazi, president of Indiewalls and Indiesigns, tells GlobeSt.com. “While signage won’t solve all of our problems, it is crucial for helping businesses reopen. Communicating CDC-approved safety standards and the new behavioral requirements such as wearing a mask and social distancing are crucial for businesses when developing a strategy to ensure the health of their workers and customers, while maintaining a positive customer experience in the process.”

Successful implementation of safety standards, which rely very heavily on signage, will mean containing the virus further, which will mean more businesses reopening and growth of the economy, Grazi says.

“At the end of the day, business owners need to consciously work to rebuild the trust of the clientele, who has become educated on the risks associated with stepping foot inside the building,” Grazi tells GlobeSt.com. “Our collective health and safety is a win for both individual well-being and the economy alike.”
