Hudson Regional Hospital Resubmits Bid for NJ Hospital Operations

The hospital has acquired Bayonne Medical Center and has resubmitted a competitive, binding offer to purchase the operations from CarePoint.

BAYONNE, NJ – Hudson Regional Hospital has purchased the Bayonne Medical Center property in Bayonne, NJ, for $76 million. The independent hospital has additionally resubmitted a competitive, binding offer to purchase the hospital operations from its current operator, CarePoint.

“HRH is the natural next operator of Bayonne Medical Center, and we look forward to a response from CarePoint to our offer,” states Dr. Nizar Kifaieh, Hudson Regional Hospital CEO.  “HRH has an exemplary record with the New Jersey Department of Health and with this acquisition is well-positioned to create a premier network of acute care facilities in Hudson County.”

Hudson Regional Hospital has invested more than $20 million in improvements to its facility, as the former Meadowlands Hospital. The improvements resulted in the hospital being recognized this year by Castle Connolly as a top hospital with 8 top doctors, and by Surgical Review Corporation with its excellence award.

The Hudson County hospital provided proof of funds with its submitted competitive offer. As operator, Hudson Regional Hospital provides a 100% privately-funded solution, without the need for taxpayer dollars. The hospital contracts insurance providers that cover 95% of New Jerseyans.

Hudson Regional Hospital is currently under contract to acquire the Hoboken University Medical Center real estate, which is currently operated by CarePoint. The hospital previously submitted a proposal to acquire operations from CarePoint for the Hoboken University Medical Center as well.

“The acquisition of Bayonne is one of many transactions we have closed for Yan Moshe, HRH’s owner, whose commitment, ethics and sophistication have allowed us to continuously improve quality while building a premier acute-care hospital network in Hudson County,” says Nima Ameri, Esq. of Ameri Law.  “We are now focused on proceeding with the Hoboken University Medical Center closing.”

Dr. Kifaie adds, “Additionally, we are firmly committed to offering all current staff members – who are all heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic like their counterparts at Hudson Regional – employment on a go-forward basis, on similar terms that CarePoint is currently offering. We have an experienced transition team that is ready to step in at a moment’s notice without any interruption of care that will work alongside the Bayonne Medical Center team and provide the support needed.”
