52,000 SF of Flexible Workspace to Open in Willis Tower

Industrious and EQ Office have partnered to deliver flexible layouts and updated amenities within the building, starting Q1 2021.

CHICAGO – Workplace provider, Industrious plans to open more than 52,000 square feet of flexible office space in Chicago’s Willis Tower.

The management agreement with Industrious allows Willis Tower to offer new flexible layouts, office configurations and updated common area amenities within the space.

Industrious at Willis Tower is now leasing and is scheduled to open in phases beginning in Q1 2021.

To deliver the flexible office space, Industrious is partnering with the office portfolio company, EQ Office, which is wholly owned by Blackstone’s real estate funds. The partnership allows EQ Office to offer additional workplace flexibility to current and prospective customers.

“Current events are reinforcing the importance of flexibility and adaptability for every organization, and many companies are seeking new options to support different modes and methods of work for their employees,” states David Moore, SVP and portfolio director at EQ Office. “Our latest partnership with Industrious is an example of how we are creating workspace options and choices for our customers to support different work modalities and patterns as we continue to innovate the office space products at Willis Tower.”

“I’m from the Midwest, and I remember visiting Willis Tower as a seven-year-old,” says Industrious co-founder and CEO, Jamie Hodari. “It represented everything ambitious and forward-looking about cities. It’s a dream to get to be involved in EQ’s work taking something iconic and making it extraordinary. Moving forward, the office is going to need to be somewhere people want to be, and EQ has done an incredible job of making Willis Tower somewhere workers would want to spend their days. What we do at Industrious is an essential part of that, plugging Willis Tower into a broader Chicago network that puts power in employees’ hands to choose where to work, and when to work there. The Industrious at Willis Tower is going to be the best workplace in a city full of great workplaces.”

The space within Willis Tower represents Industrious’ latest endeavor in providing all-inclusive workplaces for companies. In 2020, the company has announced or opened more than 600,000 square feet of new space across 100 locations nationwide. The company’s current and past members include Cisco, Compass, Spotify, Heineken, Lyft, and Salesforce.

Separately from the new flexible office space, Willis Tower is currently undergoing the largest restorative transformation in the building’s 47-year history. The restoration encompasses 125,000 square feet of new tenant amenities, a 30,000-square-foot outdoor terrace and garden, and a 300,000-square-foot, ground-level retail, dining and entertainment experience.
