Madison Taps Urban Edge’s Kupperman to Head its NYC Retail Portfolio

Kupperman will oversee more than 2 million square feet of transit and tourist-based retail space in New York City and the Tri-State region.

Madison International Realty has named Ehud Kupperman as director and head of its New York City urban retail portfolio. In this role, he will oversee the retail portfolio Madison acquired from Forest City Realty Trust, which consists of more than 2 million square feet of transit and tourist-based retail space in New York City and the Tri-State region.

The portfolio includes several signature retail properties, such as Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum Entertainment Complex in Times Square, and Atlantic Terminal and Atlantic Center malls directly across from Barclays Center in the heart of downtown Brooklyn, according to founder and president Ronald Dickerman.

Kupperman has 20 years of experience in portfolio strategy, operations and management, with a substantial focus on retail assets. He was SVP of development for Urban Edge Properties, where he was responsible for local retail properties including Bruckner Commons, Yonkers Gateway Center, Hudson Mall and Gun Hill Commons. He also held the positions of SVP, head of development at Cedar Realty Trust, and VP, development at Equity One. He began his career and spent a decade in executive operations positions with Blumenfeld Development Group.

Madison acquired a 49% stake in the 2 million-square-foot, 15-property New York City Forest City retail portfolio in 2011 and purchased the remaining 51% in 2018.
