Cushman & Wakefield has just amped up its global office leasing team with the addition of industry veteran Amy Zhen. Zhen has joined the brokerage firm as executive director, bringing more than 11 years of experience to the already reputable team. She is based in New York City.

Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Zhen was an EVP at JLL, where she was a top revenue producer for the last four years. Through the course of her career, she has completed more than 1 million square feet of office and retail leases, focusing on high profile transactions in New York. She has closed major deals for companies like JP Morgan Chase & Co., Samsung and Nespresso.

She is a welcome addition to the firm's office leasing team. Toby Dodd, president of the tri-state region at Cushman & Wakefield called her "a leading next generation professional" with a "client-centric focus and extensive experience." And, Bruce Mosler, chairman of global brokerage at the firm said that she has "an impressive track record and a deep understanding of tenant and owner requirements and expectations."

The pandemic has created significant challenges for office leasing in major markets across the country. Research from Colliers International found that the top office markets in the country—Manhattan, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle and Boston—all had negative office absorption in the third quarter, with the exception of Chicago. In total, these 10 markets had 15.7 million square feet in negative office absorption, or half of the total negative absorption nationwide.

While it may seem unexpected to bolster an office team during a market downturn, it is actually the perfect time to pack the team with professionals to guide clients through these challenges. "She will certainly be a benefit to our team as the Manhattan office market continues to rebound from the pandemic," said Mosler in a statement, and Zhen looks forward to leveraging her strengths to broaden her market base, she says.
