WTC Denver Selects Site for Global Campus

The trade association has selected the 41-acre site, Fox Park, to develop its new 600,000-square-foot multi-use complex.

DENVER, CO – The trade association, the World Trade Center Denver has selected the 41-acre community development site, Fox Park, in Denver’s Globeville neighborhood, for its new global campus.

The WTC Denver previously planned to develop a campus at 38th and Blake St. in the RiNo District, however, the association shifted plans, due to development delays and a change of scope of the project.

Aiming to create a Denver international welcome center, the association will transform the former Denver Post’s 327,000-square-foot printing press into the 600,000-square-foot, World Trade Center Denver complex.

The campus will serve as a multi-use urban center, featuring a cultural center, an International Exhibit Hall, a boutique hotel, a performing arts theater, a conference center, global and local restaurants, retail space, a fitness center, maker space and art galleries. For the project, the Denver Botanic Gardens will also design and maintain 14 acres of public parks and open space, a nursery and an outdoor amphitheater.

The new WTC Denver at Fox Park will consist of 2,240,000 square feet of office space and 3,400 residential units, which will be completed throughout four phases.

The 41-acre project will likely break ground between Q3 and Q4 of 2021, with plans to open in Q4 of 2022 through a phased approach.

Tryba Architect’s Kathleen Fogler designed the master plan to transform the space into the new campus. Fox Park, owned by Vita Fox North LP, is being developed by Pure Development.

“We are delighted about the place-making opportunities, cultural facilities, maker space and convening spaces that we can provide at the new site,” states Karen Gerwitz, president and CEO of WTC Denver. “We were pleased to discover this development team with the right forward-thinking, global mindset to make this a legacy project for Denver.”

WTC Denver’s new corporate offices will allow local and international businesses to select incubator space to customized build-to-suit buildings. The space will offer on-site services to tenants and member companies, such as trade help desk, concierge services, executive suites, event booking, B2B matchmaking, foreign investment support and more.

“The new World Trade Center Denver at Fox Park will create a Denver international welcome center and transit-oriented community that will further connect us to the global economy,” states Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “By showcasing the best of Denver on a global scale, we will create local opportunities to drive economic success in all our communities.”

“Recognizing the importance of global connectivity, shared innovation and international trade, we see a value in having a highly dynamic hub of international activities and believe that the vision of the future World Trade Center Denver campus in Fox Park is the right solution at the right time,” states Governor Jared Polis.

Located at the crossroads of Interstate 70 and Interstate 25, Fox Park is situated near the Transit Oriented Development site and one light rail stop from Union Station.

The WTC Denver was previously located in two towers, located at 16th St. and Broadway in downtown Denver, for 28 years, prior to recently moving into a temporary location at 2650 E. 40th St., while the new campus is under construction.
