EW Howell Completes Two Senior Living Facilities

The firm has constructed a 108-bed community in New York and a 114-bed community in New Jersey for owner and operator, Sunrise Senior Living.

LONG ISLAND, NY –EW Howell Construction Group has completed two senior living facilities for the Virginia-based owner and operator, Sunrise Senior Living.

The two facilities comprise the 90-unit, 108-bed luxury senior living community, Sunrise of Huntington in Huntington Station, NY and a $21 million, 114-bed project in Summit, NJ.

Sunrise of Huntington features studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, and offers high-quality assisted living and memory care services. Located at 300 West Hills Rd., the two-story property features a wellness center, an activity room and a beauty salon, as well as resident offerings and activities focusing on exercise, art, music, education, intergenerational mentoring, community service and spirituality.

The Summit, NJ project, which EW Howell served as construction manager for, features a 70,000-square-foot steel and concrete structure, which includes lower-level parking.

“There has been a significant increase in the number of senior assisted living projects planned for the Tri-State area, many carrying completion dates within the next two years,” states Kevin McKenna, VP at EW Howell Construction Group. “Communities on Long Island and in New Jersey are desperately in need of quality living options that provide seniors with the proper level of care and offer their families a peace of mind. The locations of these new Sunrise communities will fill a growing demand for key markets.”

Sunrise of Huntington represents Sunrise Senior Living’s 11th property on Long Island. The company has owned and operated more than 320 senior living facilities throughout the US, Canada and the UK.
