Denver Historical Town and Ranch on Market for $96M

Mirr Ranch Group brings 78 square miles adjoining Ted Turner's famous 550,000-acre Vermejo Park Ranch to market.

DENVER—Dawson Elk Valley Ranch the 50,000-acre historical town and ranch in northern New Mexico, has just come to market. Offering an abundance of natural resources – water rights, mineral rights, and timber – the property is also teeming with wildlife. Listed by Mirr Ranch Group of Denver, the listing price is $96 million.

“With its incredible history, wildlife, and mineral resources, Dawson Elk Valley offers the opportunity to own one of the West’s truly iconic properties,” explains listing broker and Senior Vice President of Mirr Ranch Group, Jeff Hubbard, in a prepared statement.

Over 11 Miles of the Vermejo River and approximately 17 miles of streambank meander through the heart of the ranch from its northern boundary to the lower reaches of the ranch. Nearly surrounded by Ted Turner’s Vermejo Park Ranch, biologists estimate there are over 10,000 elk that roam the more than 600,000 acres that comprise the Dawson Elk Valley Ranch and its neighbor.

Hubbard continues, “This region of northern New Mexico is renowned for its outstanding mule deer, elk, antelope, and turkey hunting. The numbers and trophy quality of bucks and bulls at Dawson is second to none. New Mexico Game and Fish issues transferable landowner tags for elk and deer tags are available over-the-counter.”

In addition, the historical aspects of the region are an amazing chapter in local, New Mexico, and U.S. history, from the Jicarilla Apache, Spanish, Mexican, and early American settlers to what followed – cattle drives, ranching, and mining. While there are intriguing remnants and reminders of a once-thriving community and mining operation on the ranch, there are thousands and thousands of acres of pristine meadows, forests, grasslands, canyons, and mesas.

“It’s difficult to comprehend the sheer size of Dawson Elk Valley Ranch. It’s bigger than most cities and larger than many national parks. This offering presents an opportunity to not only own astounding natural resources, immaculate wildlife habitat, and excellent water resources but purchasing this ranch would make you one of the largest landowners in the American West, ” said Hubbard.
