When housing becomes increasingly unaffordable for millions of Americans, it has a major toll on society as a whole. It’s the idea that access to safe, quality housing is essential to the wellbeing and prosperity of individuals in society that’s led Seth Gellis to think of housing as a human right.

The SVP of CPP Housing, which acquires, develops, and rehabilitates affordable multifamily and senior housing, notes that it’s as important to society’s infrastructure as our roads and bridges. Preservation of affordable units, though often overlooked, is just as important as new construction.

Gellis discusses this as well as some of the impediments to affordable housing, ranging from NIMBYism of new construction to federal assistance for preservation, in this wide-ranging podcast. To listen, press play.
