Silver Creek Development has unveiled plans for 8850 Sunset, its major Sunset Strip development. The plans include street level cafés, pedestrian-oriented restaurants and bars, retail spaces, a five-star luxury hotel and residences. Construction is set to break ground in 2023.

Designed by Arquitectonica, 8850 Sunset will serve to revitalize the historic Sunset Strip area. Once complete, the redeveloped property will stand 12 stories and total 237,234 square feet, featuring views, light and open space connections to show off the surrounding skyline. It is being built to LEED Gold standards, and includes several strategies to reduce water and energy consumption and energy-saving landscaping, including landscape, with a green roof on top of the podium and continuous planters at the condominium balcony edges.

The residential component will include 26 market-rate condominiums and eight affordable housing units as well as amenities, including terraces with greenspace offering panoramic views, a rooftop and a pool. The street-level will feature a two-story podium with cafes, public spaces and a newly designed Viper Room, the historic music venue, by Rockwell Group. A five-star luxury hotel will occupy floors two through five, while the residences will sit at the top of the property. The property will also feature a restaurant on the 10th floor.

Developers have targeted the area around the Sunset Strip for redevelopment in recent years. Last year, after 15 long years under construction, The Pendry West Hollywood officially opened its doors. The 300,000-square-foot, 11-story building has 149 hotel rooms and 40 luxury condos on the former House of Blues site on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. The property features a stunning list of amenities, including three dining venues, lounges, a private social club, bowling lanes, a screening room, spa, rooftop pool sanctuary with spectacular views of Los Angeles and an intimate live music venue.

Also late last year, LaTerra Development has acquired a 42-unit multifamily property, located one block from Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The acquired asset, Terraces at La Cienega is located at 1121 N. La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles. The company purchased the asset for $29.2 million and plans to renovate the property to create a luxury multifamily property.

Silver Creek Development purchased the 8850 Sunset site in 2018, and has worked closely with the community to redevelop the asset.
