The time is right for retail investment, according to James Nelson, Principal, Head of Tri-State Investment Sales and Capital Markets Group Investment Sales at Avison Young.  Chief among the reasons? Foot traffic in retail corridors has recovered back to year-end 2019 levels, while other segments are following close behind, according to a recent Avison Young whitepaper. While the convenience of e-commerce remains undeniable, consumers are also yearning to dive back into an experiential in-person shopping experience.

Nelson spoke with GlobeSt.com at this year’s ICSC conference in Las Vegas to talk about why retail should be just as attractive to investors as multifamily and industrial, both asset classes that have been viewed as recession-proof in the post-pandemic era.
