Renters will get the most bang for their buck on a budget in Amarillo, Little Rock, and Oklahoma City, where you can get as much as 1,400 square feet of space for $1,500 a month.

According to a new survey from RentCafe, these cities stand out due to their "larger-than-average apartment sizes and lower rent prices," while San Diego apartments offer the least space on their list: just 463 square feet for $1,500. Denver, Austin, Nashville and Dallas are also in the lower half of RentCafe's rankings, with under 850 sq. ft. for that amount.

Southern cities nabbed 38 out of the 50 spots, as do smaller locations. Mobile is #4 in the RentCafe ranking, followed by Memphis; Lafayette, La.; Omaha; Huntsville; Lubbock; and Augusta.
