JLL Appoints New President of Retail

JLL veteran Kristin Mueller is set to replace current president of retail Greg Maloney upon his retirement at the end of this year.

CHICAGO, IL – JLL’s CEO and president of retail Greg Maloney is retiring on December 31, 2022, after serving at JLL for more than 22 years, since its formation in 1999.

The firm’s current COO of property management and longtime partner of Maloney, Kristin Mueller will replace Maloney as president of the retail property management.

Having been involved in retail throughout his entire 45 year career, Maloney has driven the retail and shopping center industry and been instrumental in JLL’s retail business globally by evolving and adapting its services to align with changing investor needs and shifting shopper preferences.

Since taking the helm of JLL’s retail business in 2002, Maloney has expanded and diversified the firm’s portfolio from a predominantly mall-managed business of 20 malls to more than 500-managed malls, open-air and lifestyle centers, totaling more than 75 million square feet. JLL is currently the largest third-party retail manager in North America.

In addition, Maloney expanded JLL’s retail capital markets business and retail brokerage business.

“Greg has been a steward of JLL’s Retail business for the last 20 years and his level of commitment to his clients, the industry and our team is unmatched,” states Mark Zettl, president of JLL’s property management business.

Zettl adds, “We wish Greg well in retirement and are thrilled to welcome Kristin Mueller to the leadership role of retail property management. Kristin brings an extensive retail background to the job and is incredibly well-suited to grow the team as JLL continues to expand its portfolio with larger, geographically diverse and complex properties that reflect evolving investor behaviors.”

Within her new role, Mueller will work closely with JLL’s president of retail advisory services Naveen Jaggi and oversee client satisfaction and engagement, new business growth, management and national leasing efforts in the Americas.

For more than two decades, Mueller was an integral part of JLL’s retail property management business before assuming the role of COO. She has held numerous positions throughout her career at the firm, including general manager, regional manager across eight different states, lead of business development and COO of retail.
