'It Starts With Self-Awareness': What Authentic Leadership Means to This Woman of Influence (and Former Army Platoon Leader)
Marissa Limsiaco previews remarks at this year’s GlobeSt ELITE Women of Influence conference in July.
For rising leaders in commercial real estate, honing an authentic leadership style is critical. But how do you get there?
For Marissa Limsiaco, Co-Founder and President at Otso and a panelist at this summer’s Elite Women of Influence conference in Lake Tahoe, Calif, self-awareness is critical.
“Authentic leadership is really having self-awareness and leveraging this to connect with people to lead in the most genuine and sincere way,” Limsiaco tells GlobeSt exclusively ahead of the event, where she’ll join other industry leaders at a leadership roundtable on July 26.
Limsiaco, who started her leadership journey as a combat platoon leader in the Army after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, says rising leaders should seek to lead by example with a mindset geared toward servant leadership.
Ultimately, finding your unique leadership style “starts with self-awareness and identifying your own leadership values,” she says. “I am also a big believer in mentorship. Leadership can sometimes feel lonely so it’s important to have an outlet as a sounding board to confide in when making big decisions or when challenges arise.”
