New Energy Plant Construction in Vogue in Central Florida
By Alex FinkelsteinORLANDO-Orlando Utilities Commission and Southern Co. of Atlanta plan to jointly build a $250 million, 632 megawatts natural gas-fired electric plant in southeast Orange County. The announcement follows previously-announced plans by Charlotte-based Duke Energy to build a $180 million, 640 megawatts facility in neighboring Lake County, 32 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.
