ATLANTA—Score another one for Buckhead. Bass Hotels & Resorts’ will build a flagship Inter-Continental Hotel on Peachtree Street near Downtown’s Lenox Mall. The 425-room, five-star property will join the ranks of Grand Hyatt, J.W. Marriott Hotel at Lenox, Rita-Carlton Buckhead and Swissotel Atlanta—all nearby. It brings the luxury hotel count in the area to five stars and boosts its image as the upscale area for lodging, shopping, restaurants and entertainment in metro Atlanta.

Hogan Group of Tampa is buying the 3.7-acre site and will build a 456,000-sf office tower adjacent to the hotel. Bass Hotels & Resorts, owned by Bass PLC of London, acquired the Inter-Continental brand in 1998 and has expanded aggressively since.
