DETROIT—What is being called one of this city’s first upgrades of a landmark asset to class A status, Griswold Properties LLC is moving ahead on the modernization of the 719 Griswold Building. The asset, to be renamed One Kennedy, is a historic 23-story office building in Downtown. In a negotiated bidding process, Parliament, a Southfield, MI-based construction firm, was tapped to be CM. According to John A. Hamburger, Parliament president and CEO, construction work will include the integration of high-tech communication tools and Class A space. The total cost of the upgrade is estimated at $18 million. Also on the project team are architect Barton Malow Design; structural engineer McClurg and Associates; mechanical engineer Sellinger-Landberg Associates Inc; and electrical engineer Berbiglia Associates Inc.
