Beacon Properties’ calculated gamble to build a 100,000-sf office building at Harris Corners Corporate Park is paying off.CHARLOTTE, NC—The first 100,000-sf, $10-million office building at Harris Corners Corporate Park isn’t even finished yet, but it’s already 70% leased. A second 130,000-sf, $13-million building is expected to break ground in September with completion by April.

Beacon Partners, the developer, started the first building after research showed 100,000 cars traveled Interstate 77 and Harris Boulevard daily from the north end of Mecklenburg County, on their way to downtown Charlotte office locations. The developer figured employers could attract more workers by locating their business near the employees’ home base.

“Tenants have told us they have cut their commuting time in half,” says Will Miller, a Beacon partner.
