According to Terrence M. McDermott, NARÕs executive vicepresident, about 70,000 NAR members spend 50% or more of their timeon commercial transactions. He says that GottliebÕs appointment isindicative of "NARÕs commitment to build our presence in thecommercial brokerage sector."
GottliebÕs responsibilities will include the Realtors CommercialAlliance, a new initiative that brings together leading firms andassociations to help provide a framework of collective leadershipand direction in developing a unified voice for the commercial realestate industry.
She will also oversee Transact 2000. Now in its second year,Transact is a venue to benefit the commercial brokerage industry.McDermott says that about 80% of NARÕs government affairs agendaspecifically benefits the commercial sector.
