Building homes for retirees is obviously big business in the Sun Belt, but New Jersey consistently ranks in the top 10 states as a retirement destination and developers have been hard-pressed to keep up with demand. Enter Erickson Retirement Communities. The Catonsville, MD-based developer and manager of residential properties has broken ground for the 130-acre Cedar Crest Village in Morris County, which is expected to have 375 units. The project follows on the heels of the company’s highly successful (and fully sold-out) Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, NJ in Monmouth County.

Cedar Crest Village is designed for moderate-income seniors. The first building, Timber Ridge, which will offer 110 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments when it opens next spring, is already fully committed.
