Development of Millennium Tower reached a milestone last week as workers laid the last piece of structural steel for the 36-story, mixed-use project.

The developer of the project is Millennium Partners of New York City, in joint venture with WDG Ventures of San Francisco. The first 16-stories of the tower will hold a Four Seasons luxury hotel. High-end condominiums will occupy the balance of the property.

Approximately 85 percent of the condos in Millennium Tower have been sold, with prices starting at about $1 million. Rooms at the Four Seasons are expected to rent for about $400 a night.

There will also be a two-level retail area at the ground floor and a 100,000-square-foot fitness club. The tower includes some 15,000 tons of steel.

Millennium Tower is one of the final elements in the Yerba Buena Gardens redevelopment project focused on Moscone Convention Center. A major expansion of the convention center is also underway.
