Shoppers will have a new place to spend money Friday. Phoenix-based Westcor Partners is opening its $220 million, 1.5 million-sf FlatIron Crossing regional mall, next to the Interlocken Business Park in Broomfield, a bedroom community midway between Boulder and Denver.

FlatIron, which features an outdoor/pedestrian mall – what Westcor calls a ”retail village” -is the most expensive mall ever built by the developer. Nordstrom, Foley’s, Dillard’s and Lord & Taylor anchor the mall, which is ticketed for a 14-screen movie theater next year.

There are about 41,000 people who work within a five-mile radius of FlatIron, supplementing a 500,000 population base to provide the primary draw for the newest mall in the Denver metro area, David Scholl, senior vice president of Westcor, told GlobeSt.com.
