The property, zoned commercial for 30 years, sits across thestreet from the existing hotel, on the oceanside of a lot NestuccaRidge owners Mary Jones and Jeff Schons definately plan to developas phase two of their hotel. Phase two, a 42-room addition to thehotel across the street, was approved at the time the existinghotel was approved in the mid 1990s.

This June, however, Jones and Schons applied to amend theirphase two permit. The proposal is to shrink the number of rooms inphase two to 23 rooms and add a pool and meeting room instead, aswell as add 30-rooms on the dune itself as a third phase.

The State Parks and Recreation Department, which owns nearbyCape Kiwanda State Park, and the Department of Land Conservationand Development, are not opposing the project. A preliminarydecision is expected from the county planning commission inSeptember, after which is would go in front of the county councilfor a final decision.
