A Vancouver company will raze the 100,000-sf Howell Building in the Pearl District next weekend to make way for a six-story office building with ground-floor retail space.

Demolition will take eight-to-12 weeks. C.E. John Co. will begin work on [email protected] – the Howell Building’s 150,000-sf replacement – in the first quarter of 2001. [email protected] is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2002.

Approximately 130,000 sf of the new building will be office space, with the remaining 20,000 sf slated for retail. Grubb & Ellis and RC Ford Co. hold the leasing contract.
