Valencia Hotels of Houston is planning to build a 100-room Hampton Inn near Austin-Bergstron International Airport, according to real estate sources.

The property is located southeast of Ben White Boulevard and Riverside Drive. The structure, a franchise of Hilton Hotel Corp. of Beverly Hills, Ca., will be owned and operated by Valencia.

Thomas Keltner, executive vice president of Hilton Hotels and president of its franchise hotel group, says the Hampton Inn chain averages more than 100 hotel openings per year. The brand continues to aggressively seek expansion opportunities, especially in the western half of the US, emphasizes Keltner.

The five-story project at 7712 E. Riverside Dr. tentatively is set to open in first quarter 2001.
