A group of local residents, business owners and professionals are working with the city on a new master plan for the Lloyd District that will guide development through the next decade.

During a brainstorming session in July, the Lloyd District Development Strategy Steering Committee created two possible development plans as starting points. The plans are being further refined and will be presented to the public on Aug. 22.

Preliminary goals for the area include:

-New, high-density mixed-use projects to take advantage of the area’s close-in location;

-A greater diversity of dining, retail and entertainment venues to give the district additional “after hours” attractions;

-A stronger connection to Old Town and the River District for both pedestrians and motorists; and

-More parks and open space.
