Reflecting continuing improvement in the economy and healthytourism, the overall average daily room rate for the county was$132.37, up 4.3% from the $126,86 of.June 1999. Occupancy was awhopping 81.28%, up 4.5% from the 77.81% posted in June 1999.

The most expensive areas were those popular with tourists—LaJolla, North Coastal and San Diego Bay—with ADRs of $192.58,$184.62 and $184.16, respectively, says Bruce Baltin, senior VP ofPKF Consulting.

The only area with an occupancy rate below 75% was the area'sleast expensive hotel market, South Bay. The area had a June 2000ADR of $63.20, 5.3% below the $66.74 recorded in June 1999, and ithad a June occupancy rate of 69.94%, 4.4% above the 67.02% for June1999.
