The eight-story, 185,000-sf tower is scheduled to be completedin December 2001. It is the last building in the first phase of theproject. Spieker began construction on two identical towers in Junethat have been preleased by Siemens Information and CommunicationsNetworks Inc. The two towers should be complete by next fall.

Located near San Jose International Airport, Skyport Plaza willeventually include 1.1 million square feet of office space, retailspace, two hotels, up to 315 housing units, and a park. Spiekerplans to build three more 185,000-sf towers within the next two tofive years, further strengthen its presence in the airport market,where it currently owns and operates approximately 2.2 million sfof office space.

No firm completion date has been set. The project is beingphased over time as warranted by demand, a company source toldGlobeSt.com. Spieker is handling the project's commercial aspects,and marketing out hotel and residential duties, the sourcesaid.
