The 600-store Lowe’s home improvement chain, based in North Wilkesboro, NC is rapidly expanding in South Florida, often picking locations that go head-to-head with arch rival Home Depot. A Lowe’s super-store has broken ground in Boynton Beach, directly across the street from a two-building Home Depot. A spring opening is planned

The project is on a 15-acre site, just south of Woolbright Road at I-95. The Lowe’s parcel was assembled in two separate purchases, reportedly in a price range of $7 to $12 psf ($304,920 to $522,720 an acre)

Other Lowe’s locations near Home Depots are in Coral Springs and Oakland Park, Broward County. The Boynton Beach store will be Lowe’s second in Palm Beach County. The first opened earlier this year in Royal Palm Beach.
