J. Calnan Associates has been retained as construction managerfor the addition. Symmes Maini & McKee of Cambridge is servingas architect, and the Carey Group is acting as the owner's agent.The Lakeville construction team has also been hired to renovateTalbots' headquarters property.

The distribution center will be used to buttress Talbots'aggressive growth plan, which was recently outlined by chairmanArnold B. Zetcher. Besides an anticipated increase in catalog andInternet sales, the company has launched its Vision 2000 programthat calls for more than 1,150 stores and $2 billion in annualsales by the end of 2005. At the end of its most recent fiscalyear, Talbots was operating 673 stores and had revenues ofapproximately $1.3 billion.
