The section east of Sawgrass Expressway, south of Oakland ParkBoulevard, west of Flamingo Road and north of I-595 is felt to haveample retail space already with the presence of the 1.2 million-sfSawgrass Mills outlet mall. A new fashion mall is proposed for anadjoining site.

City officials feel retail developments without anchors in thissection of the city are not economically viable and probablycouldn't attract financial backing.
