Rosewood Hotels & Resorts LLC is reportedly interested in buying the 230-room hotel proposed as part of the $400 million project to be built around a renovated Emporium Building on Market Street.

All told, the proposed development would include a 375,000-sf Bloomingdale’s, 500,000 sf of other retail, restaurant and entertainment, a nine-screen cinema with seating for 3,000 and the hotel. Los Angeles-based Forest City Development Corp. is the project developer.

Rosewood, based in Dallas, Texas, could not immediately be reached for comment on their reported interest in the development. After the 92-year-old Emporium building is renovated, Forest City is expected to retain control of the remainder of the space, owning and leasing 125,000 sf of retail as well as a nine-screen cinema complex and other entertainment areas.

The project recently won approvals from the city Redevelopment Agency Commission, Planning Commission and Recreation and Parks Commission. A series of hearings before the Board of Supervisors is next on the agenda.
