Renting a Veterans’ Memorial Building on the northern edge of Silicon Valley just became a little more expensive.

Starting Sept. 1, rental rates for the Alameda County-owned buildings will jump to $90/hour, plus cleaning and security for events that involve alcohol. That’s up from a range of $75/hour to a $450 flat fee for non-veteran users.

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors agreed this week to increase rental rates. The decision affects veterans’ buildings in the Niles District of Fremont, Calif., as well as Hayward, Calif., San Leandro, Calif., and Albany, Calif.
