Sterling Semiconductor has leased 50,000 sf for a new manufacturing plant in the Mercure Business Park, a 157-acre industrial park located at Route 606 and Mercure Circle near Sterling.

The subsidiary of Uniroyal Technology Corp. now occupies about 12,000 sf at 22660 Executive Dr. in Sterling but needs to expand. It will invest about $30 million in the plant and expects to create about 172 jobs. The company plans to relocate to the new facility in early 2001.

Virginia approved a $500,000 grant to lure Sterling Semiconductor, beating out Connecticut and Florida.
