Wal-Mart Corp. plans to break ground by year end on a 229,000-sf prototype Superstore at Kirkman Road and MetroWest Boulevard in the rapid-growth corridor of southwest Orlando. The Bentonville, AR-based retailer paid MetroWest Land Development Co. $7.33 million or about $293,480 per acre ($6.74 psf).

The project will feature Boca Raton-style architecture with a clay tile roof and extensive landscaping, a fancy touch for Wal-Mart’s usual plain vanilla, big-box stores. The Orlando office of RJ Twitty & Co. and Landmarks Realty handled the transaction. RJ Twitty’s local division has closed and committed transactions of $244 million over the past 12 months.
