Owner Charles E. Smith Cos. of Arlington began work on acomplete renovation of the property into a class A building afterthe Federal Communications Commission moved out. Work on the275,000-sf building is expected to be finished in the thirdquarter. Rents are in the $40 per sf range.
Insignia/ESG represented the tenant; Smith spoke for itself.
The former FCC headquarters wasn't the first place thatConservation International expected to lease. It had beennegotiating at 4501 Connecticut Ave. NW but the funding fellthrough, says Mark Teitelbaum, an Insignia broker that representedthe tenant.
