BMC is constructing two buildings on its 50-acre urban campus: a21-story 500,000-sf tower and a six-story structure with 300,000 sfof space. The new buildings will increase the amount of officespace on the software vendor's campus to 1.6 million sf. The newbuildings are designed by the DMJM architecture firm of LosAngeles. The buildings, constructed by W.S. Bellows ConstructionCo., are scheduled to be finished by July 2001.

BMC, which has almost 2,000 employees in Houston, is overcrowdedand has leased space in several other office buildings around thecity until the new buildings are completed. BMC still has enoughland to accommodate future growth. It has three other officebuildings on its long-range drawing boards that could eventuallyplace another 1.2 million sf of space in the campus.

The BMC campus is immediately adjacent to the new BriarLakePlaza building, a new 20-story, 500,000-sf tower developed byTishman Speyer Properties. In 2001, Tishman Speyer will startconstructing two new buildings at the site, adding 400,000 sf tothe market. Developers say the West Sam Houston Tollway has becomepopular with tenants because the tollway provides easier commutesto all parts of the city and convenient travel to both of Houston'smajor airports.
