WHITE PLAINS-Entergy Corp., a New Orleans-based energy company, has chosen to house its Northeast regional headquarters on three floors at the AT&T building at 440 Hamilton Ave. Entergy currently has a transition management team operating at 123 Main St. here. The firm will relocate its staff there as well as 130 employees of the New York Power Authority, who will become part of Entergy’s Northeast workforce, to its new headquarters offices.

Entergy is awaiting approval of its proposed acquisition of Indian Point 3 nuclear power plant in Buchanan and the James A. Fitzpatrick nuclear plant in Oswego County, NY. Both facilities are currently owned and operated by the New York Power Authority. Closing on the sale of those properties, valued at $970 million, is expected this fall.

The company also owns and operates the Pilgrim nuclear plant in Plymouth, MA. Entergy Nuclear Northeast will manage a workforce in four states that totals 2,300 workers with an annual payroll of $81 million. Entergy Corp. is the third largest power generator in the United States with more than 30,000 megawatts of generating capacity and approximately $11 billion in annual revenue. The nuclear business of Entergy is headquartered in Jackson, MS.

Mike Kansler, chief operating officer of Entergy Nuclear Northeast, comments, “We promised the state of New York that we would locate our regional headquarters in NY and we are delivering on that commitment. We are a growing company and Westchester County is an ideal place to grow.”

Company officials say that in addition to managing the three nuclear facilities, Entergy Nuclear Northeast will be an active bidder on other nuclear plants on the market. The division is also working on the decommissioning of nuclear plants at Maine Yankee in Wiscasset, ME and Millstone Unit 1 in Waterford, CT.
