DENVER-Larimer Square is making good on a promise to reinvigorate itself–courting Dallas-based–The Samba Room to Lower Downtown Denver.

The Samba Room, which features Latin and Caribbean dishes, was started in Dallas and is owned by Dallas-based Carlson Restaurants Worldwide Inc., also the owner of about 590 T.G.I Friday’s eateries plus Aquaknox, Italianni’s, Mignon, Star Canyon, Taqueris Canonita, and Timpano Italian Chophouse. Carlson Restaurants last year reported $691.3 million in sales, a 15.4% increase from the prior year.

The Denver Samba Room will occupy 3,500 sf on the ground level of the historic Granite Building at 15th and Larimer streets. Metropolitan Art Gallery and Williams-Sonoma previously had occupied the space.
