The port wants to buy back the 45 acres near Seigerwald NationalWildlife Refuge that it sold to the parks commission for $911,800in 1991. Earlier this year the Parks Commission was asking for $2million for the industrial-zoned parcel that sits adjacent theport's industrial park. The port wants the land for additionalindustrial park space.

The Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation has agreed toaccept the port's appraisal of the land. An appraisal of $1.9million includes improvements paid for by the port including road,rail, water and sewer line extensions. A $1.7 million appraisaldoes not include those improvements already paid for by theport.

The State Parks and Recreation Commission will discuss the issueat its regular meeting on Friday, Sept. 22, in Ilwaco.
