Officials from Redmond, Deschutes County, the Oregon MilitaryDepartment, the federal Bureau of Land Management, the Division ofState Lands and a developer of a proposed entertainment complex allhave an interest in the property. The BLM owns the land.

Following a meeting in Redmond this week, each group appears tobe in favor of master planning the entire area before proceedingwith any changes, though it may not stop behind the scene lobbyingin the meantime.

Redmond Mayor Ed Fitch says the property's uses shouldcomplement the county fairgrounds, preserve remnants of a wagontrail on the property for cultural value and consider themilitary's needs. An Oregon Military Department training areashares the land's eastern boundary.
