CHARLOTTE-Uptown residents are hungry for condominiums, developers Pete Verna and Tom Woollen are learning. Their 20-story, 106-unit project, the Park, is selling units at the average rate of 12 per month–and the venture hasn’t turned the first spade.

The four-month pre-construction sales mark of 48 units is prompting the developers to break ground by January. The price range is $150,000 to $550,000. The Park will be built atop a four-story parking garage and will be Uptown’s tallest residential tower.

The project is in the city’s Second Ward, which hasn’t seen any new residential development since the 1970s.
