Oregon State University, Eastern Oregon University and theOregon Institute of Technology are combining their respectivespecialties to win the bid for Oregon's first branch campus. Underthe proposal, EOU would provide teaching courses, and OIT wouldprovide its technology and engineering courses. Business, liberalarts and health are some of the OSU specialties that will beincluded in the proposal.

The University of Oregon plans to submit a proposal on its own.A branch in Bend will be built only if the Legislature approves$7.2 million in funding to cover start-up costs and the first twoyears of operation. The branch is slated to open in fall 2001.Proposals are due by Dec. 1.
