DETROIT-James Sands has been named realtor of the year by the Detroit Area Commercial Board of Realtors. He is the chief appraisal officer and a senior vice president of Standard Federal Bank of Troy, MI and this year’s president of DACBOR. He had been treasurer of DACBOR for the last four years.

Sands is very active in the community. At the state level, he has served as an assistant facilitator for non-profit housing projects and is a member of the Smart Growth Coalition.

Locally, he has been involved in the City of Royal Oak’s Master Plan and the city of Birmingham’s Floor Area Ratio new construction ordinance.
