The flat-topped roofs on the buildings are being replaced withpeaked roofs. The units are getting new windows, kitchen cabinets,carpeting, floor tiles and fresh paint. The first phase of the MORHApartments remodel is due next month. The rest is scheduled forcompletion by April 2001.
Citizens Housing, a San Francisco-based affordable housingdeveloper, owns and is developing several low-income properties inthe Bay Area. Its projects include the 79-unit Oak Center on MarketStreet and the Piedmont Apartments at Piedmont Avenue and MacArthurBoulevard.
The MOHR apartments were fully occupied when Citizens took over,but the nonprofit has found other places for tenants to live whilethe work is done.
