The new facility, being built by Wachovia Capital Investmentsand managed by Binswanger Corp., is part of a five-year,$135-million expansion program announced last year.

CommScope will lease the building and its 12-acre site for anestimated 10 years from Wachovia, with an option to buy. CommScopehas added 1,000 employees in the past year and expandedmanufacturing and distribution space by more than one millionsf.

Most of the company's 3,800 employees work at four plants inCatawaba and Iredell counties. CommScope expects to occupy the newbuilding by the end of 2001.
