EUGENE, OR-Symantec Corp. is seeking 200,000-sf in the Eugene-Springfield area to relocate its worldwide customer service center. The high-tech company says it hopes to stay in the heart of Downtown, but is too cramped at its current West Broadway location in the run-down pedestrian mall.

The company is currently located in converted retail buildings. In addition to leasing real office space, the Cupertino, CA-based company is said to be considering several sites for possible new development, including a privately owned surface parking lot north of its existing offices, or south of existing offices where a vacant Sears building now sits on city-owned property.

Employing some 500 people, Symantec’s worldwide customer service center is a major Downtown employer.
